Hairstyle Inspiration

Now that its finally starting to be Spring and the sun is finally out and hopefully its here to stay, since getting my haircut I've been looking for hairstyles inspiration that I could start trying myself.

Now that I've got short hair all I want to start wearing it to wear it with braids and messy waves, I think it'll be rare for me to have it straight again. I will be posting different hairstyles on short hairs for spring and summer.

Bold Metals

I'm a big fan of Real Techniques brushes I have quite a few of their brushes, when I heard they had come out with a new collection I couldn't wait to get my hands on them. Ive recently purchased their 202 Angled Liner brush from my loco Boots.

I've been using this for eyeliner, and Ive got to say I found my favourite brush, I like how it soft and easy to apply eyeliner with this brush, it gives it a smooth shape. I can't wait to purchase more of the RT Bold Metal Collection.

Most Embarrassing Moment

If you read yesterdays post you'd know a little bit about me bleaching my hair, I'm the type of person where I do things at the heat of the moment, I wanted to go platinum for a while and recently after having my haircut short I wanted to go for a completely different colour. While looking around online for tutorials on how to go platinum and what could happened if it failed, I ended up getting so much help and a lot of successful videos of people showing how they got their goal colour, but I didn't really find any useful information if it went bad and what to do so thought I would break down what I did to my hair from the start to the end and what went wrong and how I got it to the colour I have now.

First try (Thursday night) - I used Bleach London Total Bleach, on the box it says it lights up to 7 levels to achieve platinum so I thought I would give it ago, I did everything on the introduction sheet and mixed the products left it on my hair for 40-45 minutes, I washed my hair until the water turned clear, once my hair was dried you could see (Left picture) it only lightened my roots and left the rest of my hair reddish ginger.

Second Try (Friday Morning) - I wanted to bleach it once again to see if everything would lighten, I did everything like the first step and it just went lighter on the roots and the top of my hair a yellow blonde and still a bright orange from the middle to the ends.

Third try (Friday Afternoon) - At this point I got fed up with it all and I went into town and purchased another box of Bleach London in town to bleach it for the 3rd time.

Did everything like the previous tries but only bleach the ends and left roots since they didn't need doing, once my hair was dry it only turned out even brighter, at this point my hair was bright yellow at the roots and a bright orange from the middle to the ends of my hair.

To make things worse I also had to work at my dads shop since they needed help, you can't imagine how embarrassing it felt working wright bright hair, having people laughing and making ridiculous comments. By this point I just gave up with everything and was in a point where I wanted to just dye it dark and forgetting everything.

Fourth try (Saturday Morning) - Once I woke up I called my local hairdressers where I got my hair cut and explained what happened luckily they had a free spot for me to come and and they can take a look and see what they could do.

I walked in and the all had a shocked expression I don't think they realised how crazy and bright it looked, I got seen at half 11 where she took a look at my hair, explained why it got to the colour and saying it was impossible to reach platinum as I'm a dark headed, she suggested the colour for my to cover it up in the meanwhile and then if I wanted to still go lighter I could come back in a months time and get it done gradually, as I had bleached it the previous day it was too soon for them to put any bleach in my hair as it would damage my hair.

She was surprised how my hair was in a good/average condition after being bleached, she advised to keep condition a lot on every wash and putting a lot of oils on my hair so that it doesn't split and damage my hair.

I choice to go for a brown chocolate dye for my hair, but my hair turned lighter than planned due to it being bleached and lighten, as you could see from the picture on the right. It looks a bit darker on the picture but in person its just a shade lighter.

I like how my hair turned out with the colour after getting it done at the hairdressers, I will be going just a shade lighter maybe but I still need to think about it.

My advice - My advice on the whole bleaching at home is everyones hair is completely different, it might turn out great but you always have to consider that it might go wrong and not how you've planned for it go, I would advice to please go hairdressers if you do want to go lighter than your natural hair, they will do a better job than you would think they would, always better, if it goes wrong always have a backup plan on what you want to do next, Remember its just hair and it'll grow out if its damaged or goes wrong and you can always cover it up.

I wish I had waiting and gone to the hairdressers where they would advice me on whats best for my hair and they would do a job a better job.

Have you had any bad experience with bleaching or dying hair?

Complete Madness

When it comes to my hair I can do some crazy and stupid stuff to it, I've dyed my hair since the age of 15, I never liked my natural colour which is Black, I've dyed it Red, Purple, different shades of Browns, I've had blonde highlights on the fringe and had dip dye twice so its been through a lot. But that doesn't stop me from getting it dyed once again.

I've decided to go out of my comfort zone and bleach my hair to platinum or blonde depends on how it all turns outs really, I've pretty much wanted blonde hair for years but I always had people telling me no and changing my mind but recently I've wanted it get it done and I've plucked up the courage to finally do it.

I will advice people if you do want to go platinum please go hairdressers if its your first time with bleaching or you are worried that it won't turn out right, or if you want to get it done at home make sure you have someone around that could reach the parts that you can't reach or see, it'll make the process a whole lot better. I won't be posting any pictures today on how it all turned out but I will be posting it tomorrow of my review and how it all went down.

What you bleached your hair? Whats been your experience with home bleaching it?

Happy Good Friday everyone.

Barry M Love

After hairdresses yesterday I popped into town just to have a little wonder around and see whats new in stores, I ended up in Superdrug since I was on a mission on finding a nice bright orange nail polish, I have been wanting an orange shade for a while, I don't really have any orange nail paint in my collection and I've been liking bright colours lately so I've been in need of one that would stand out.

I came across this Gelly-Hi Shine nail paint in Mango what is the coincidence that I was thinking about eating a mango at the time of searching for an orange nail paint and I found one thats called Mango? I like that this colour is bright like an neon shade and it'll be perfect to wear for Spring and Summer.

The second purchase is a basecoat, topcoat and nail hardener, I only got this because I run out of my topcoat polish and I was in need of a new one, I'll have to try this one out and see if it does what it says on the bottle. I purchased both for £6 which is a pretty good deal.

What is your favourite nail colour for Spring?

And it begins…

Its been a year and half since I last my hair cut, the last time I did I went for a short do for the summer and since I was starting university I wanted something new, I'm the type of person that if I have short hair I want to grow it out and have it long but then once I have long hair I want to cut it short and do something different, luckily my hair can grow at an average-fast paste which I'm quite lucky about.

This time around I wanted to go for short do just on the shoulders at the moment, I still want length which is enough for me to tie it back and do cute stylings with it. It feels strange having it short, I pass my fingers through it and its weird not having my long hair there, but my head and hair feels much lighter after having it cut, specially since I had a lot of split and damaged ends that needed a cut.

I got my haircut in the same place as I got my acrylic nails done Top Tips in Wellingborough, I never had my haircut by them before so I was quite worried about getting it cut somewhere new, the girl did a good job with it all though I felt like she didn't really do much of the same with the picture I had shown her (pic) but still did a good job.

I won't be stopping with just a haircut I will be going lighter with my hair and maybe going just a bit shorter for the Summer but I'll be keeping you posted with it.

Natural nails

Before wanting/having acrylic nails I would have long natural nails but with working and it always breaking I ended up giving up and just getting acrylic since they'll last longer and won't break as fast as my naturals but this time around it was time for a change.

After coming back from holiday in Madeira I wanted to grow my own nails naturally and stop getting them done, I especially didn't want to be every paying over £20 every 3-4 when I can have long natural nails for free.

The first month was hard since they where so weak from the acrylics, what I did was cutting the nails short and failing them to shape them, I also added nail polish as I find it that it grows faster when I paint my nails and adding topcoats, I did this for 2 months. I didn't use anything specially on them it was just a natural process.

It's been almost 3 months since I last wore acrylics and my nails are stronger than what they used to, I don't think I'll be getting acrylics for a very long time.

What do you do to keep your natural nails healthy?

Much needed Boots Haul

Today has been one of those days where time has gone by so fast and I don't even know what I've done, I've managed to do grocery shopping and buying things I needed from boots.

This haul is something I've been needing for a while now and I've run out on some of the products. I got the Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturiser I ran out of this moisturiser today and I don't like putting makeup without applying moisturiser first, I like that it leaves my skin feeling fresh and healthy and doesn't feel heavy on the skin before I apply makeup, I've seen a difference with my skin if I use a different moisturiser to this one its only £4.99 which isn't so bad.

There was a buy one get one free deal in Tea Tree witch hazel brand so I purchased there exfoliating pads and nose pore strips, I've tried the exfoliating pads and I've run out a while ago so I was in need of some, I never tried nose pore strips before and since it was a buy one get one free deal I thought I might as well get it and give it ago.

The last thing I purchase is the Real Techniques Miracle complexion sponge, I ended up getting this with my boots points since I had over £6 saved on it, I purchased this sponge a while ago but I some how I managed to loose it I've tried looking everywhere but no luck I think I must of thrown it away accidentally.

Whats your favourite moisturiser?

Sleek Haul

I haven't bought any Sleek products in quiet a while, now that I'm living in London I get more access to more beauty brands, meaning I can see and try the product out in store before purchasing. I'm a fan of Sleek I have 6 previous makeup palettes from the brand making a total of 9 thanks to this little haul.

Contouring and Blush palette in light, I already have a contouring palette in Medium, I accidentally purchased the wrong one but worked out well for the Summer since I get bit of a tan, I've been wanting to get a light palette for quite a while which I was quite happy to see that they had it in store, I decided to get contouring and blush palette, its got a bronzer, highlighter and blusher, the blush is a shimmery pinkish peach.

Blush By 3 Palette in Carliforn.I.A - Newport Peach, The Surf and Oc, I tend to go for powdered blushers but since I wanted to invest in some cream blushes for Spring, I came across this blush by 3 Palette and instant new the colours would be perfect for Spring/Summer, theres two matte and one shimmer, the blushes in this palette are very pigmented so a small amount goes a long way.

The 3rd Palette I got was the I-Divine eyeshadow palette in Ultra mattes V1 Brights Palette, the reason behind this purchase is the bright colours for Spring and Summer, I'm also the one to go towards browns and neutrals colours but its time for me to step out of the comfort zone and explore with bright colours, I like that this palette is matte I'm not a big fan of matte and I feel like its hard finding matte eyeshadows, the colours that I'm liking in this palette are Pout, Bamm, Strike and Crete I think those are the shades ill be using quite a lot in Spring and Summer.

I'm going to do makeup looks using this Sleep haul palettes, what is your go to Sleep Palette?

Beauty Haul

Living next to a massive shopping centre (Westfield) isn't going so well, by that I mean I've been buying beauty stuff that I don't need mainly because I've been bored out my mind being on my own in the flat that the only thing I tend to do when I'm out by myself is buy things to keep me busy but not making my bank too happy with the spending.

I decided that I'd do a beauty haul of the things I've bought throughout the past couple of weeks and combine it all on one post.

Maybelline New York, The Eraser Eye, I've seen beauty bloggers and youtubers talking about this concealer and they seemed to have good reviews so I thought I'd try them out myself, I did purchase light and nude shades mainly because there wasnt any testers and there was only 2 colours in the boots near me I don't know if they sell in more shade which I hope they do, but I thought I'd give them both a go.

Quick Dry | Barry M

Im a huge fan of Barry M if you regular follower you'll know I have over 30 nail paints from them so when I found out they had a Speedy Quick Dry nail paint range I had to get my hands on them.

They have a selection of nine shades that has a race-car like chequer lids and a speedy promise, I was won over by the selection of pastel colours perfect for Spring Summer, the two colours that have won me over are Grey Pit Stop and Pink Kiss Me Quick.

I haven't bought a pink shade nail polish in a long, mainly because I never found one that got my attention until I came across Kiss Me Quick I thought I'd try this shade, I've been wearing this shade for a day now and it makes it look like I have a tan so I'm excited to wear this in the Summer when I get a tan.

Ive run out of a grey shade nail polish so I was in need to get my hands on a new one, its a nice pastel grey shade and no a strong dull one, ill be wearing this shade quiet often.

I liked how it drys super quick, I think I waited 2 minutes and it was dry, its a little wear pigmented so I had to do 4 coats, I also like that it comes with a flat brush making it easier to apply on the nails with on swipe. I can't wait to purchase more shades.

Lush Haul

I will be honest and say I never tried anything form Lush since last Summer, I had a friend from college bought me a lash bubble bar for Christmas around 3 years ago and I never used it and I forgot I had it until I moved house and found it in on of the boxes and thought I should try it, I fell in love with lush that I've been wanting to get my hands on it but I didn't have a store near by for me to pick out something I liked to try.

I've seen bloggers raving about Lush Unicorn Horn bubble bar so I had to get my hands on this rainbow beauty, its so colourful and sparkle, I'm not one for going for something girlish but this grapped my attention, I can't wait to try this out.

The second item I purchased is The Comforter bubble bar slice, I'm not lying when I say this actually smells like bubble gum, so you can imagine why I had to purchase this.

I can't wait to try two products out, do you have any lush favourites?

Benefit 'Roller Lash' Mascara

I've been a huge fan of Benefits products specially their 'They're Real' mascara, so when I've heard that they had a new mascara coming out the end of the month I got super excited, I popped into my loco corner shop and purchased the March Elle Edition that came with a smaller sample for their new mascara 'Roller Lash'

I had to give it a try and I haven't been disappointed by it, it curls and makes my eyelashes look longer with one coat but by adding more it makes them look fuller, I've worn it a couple days for a full day and they still makes my eyelashes look like they've just been curled with eyelash curlers.
The only thing I would say bad about is when applying the mascara it felt heavy on my lashes but it fades away and you don't feel a difference after a couple of minutes.

Roller Lash will be instores at the end of the month but will be available to purchase from the 12th of February, I can't wait to get my hands on one.

Have you picked up your copy of this months Elle magazine to try you hands on Roller Lash mascara? If you have, what are your thoughts on the Roller Lash mascara?

A touch of Plum

My hair needed a break from all the bleaching and how badly I've been treating lately that I've decided to go back to being a dark brunette for a while, until I decide to change it again.

I've been waiting to use my new Mac Lipstick in Captive since I've got it and I've been waiting for an excuse to try it out. I went for a natural look but with a touch of colour on the lips, if I'm wearing a heavy eye look I don't like to have a dramatic lips I like to either have one or the other.

What I've used on my face:
for Moisturiser I used Neutrogena, Visibly clear oil-free moisturiser, for concealer I used Makeup Revolution cover and conceal palette in Light-Medium, for foundation I used Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation from Benefit in the shade Honey, for blush I used Max Factor creamy blush in Soft Pink, for eyeliner I used Maybelline New York eyestudio lasting drama gel eyeliner in black, for mascara I used Rimmel London Wonderful Mascara in Black, for my eyebrows I used No.7 stay perfect eyeshadow in Matte Mocha for the lips I used Mac Lipstick in Captive

January Favourites

Can't believe January is over, I'm I the only one that felt like it went quiet slow? But I'm excited that its over as I get to move into my new little place with the other half but more on that coming soon.
Its been a very long time since done a monthly favourite but thats changing this year, I'm bring the monthly favourites, I've got quiet a few things that I've been loving in January, I've decided to just do one beauty, fashion and lifestyle, I wanted to mix things up a bit.

Nip+Fab Bee Sting Mask, I've used this every other day since I've bought this product, I haven't been disappointed in it, I've seen a massive improvement on my skin, I will be purchasing more Nip+Fab products soon.

Kimono/Blanket wrap from Primark, I bought this kimono for holiday just to wear when it was chilly as I didn't want to wear something big and heavy, this has been my favourite piece of clothing I've bought, its so comfy and warm, I tend to wear it around the house when I feel a bit chilly and it keeps me warm.

Conceal & Correct from Makeup Revolution, I've been using this from the moment I've bought it, just like that it matches my skin tone, its good enough coverage in my opinion, I haven't been disappointed in it yet.

Notebook from WHSmithi, this has come useful when I have ideas floating in my head I can just write them down, and its been helping me getting organised with things.

And thats what I've been loving in January, what have you been loving in January?

Lets smoke it out

If you saw/read yesterdays post you'll know I've recently made a little Mac purchase and I've been wanting to try out the Pro Longer Paint Pot Peinture in Constructivist, luckily on Sunday I got an excuse to wear it, as I was going back to Oxford to visit some relatives I wanted to create a grungy smokey eye with this paint pot right from the moment I got this, what I love about this product that it looks great messy or neat depending on how you'll like to use it and you really can't go wrong with it.

I decided to go for a smokey grunge look, I used Constructivist all over the lid with a Mac 239 eye shader brush and blanded it out with a Mac 217 blending brush and I just kept adding to it until I knew it was done, I also put some under the bottom lash line with a 239 and blended it out with a 217.

What I used for the rest of the face, Foundation: Rimmel Wake me up foundation in Soft Beige, for concealer I used Makeup Revolution in Light-Medium, Blush Sleek in Flushed and for Mascara I used Rimmer Wonder'full Mascara with Argan Oil in Black. I went over my T-Zone with Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder in Transparent and for bronzer/contour I used Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder in Medium/Dark.

Mac Haul

I don't think I've done a Mac haul in a very long time meaning I needed to have a little treat all though I shouldn't really when Ill be moving out and I need to start saving but hey it doesn't hurt to treat yourself to something nice once in a while right?

Last week I popped into London for flat viewings but before that I met up with a close friend and of course we popped into Mac store to check some of their stuff out, I won't lie as say the only things I've got from Mac is foundation, lipsticks and makeup brushes, while looking around I spotted the Pro Longer Paint Pot Peinture in Constructivist, when I came across this I knew I had to get it and give it ago, its a brown tone eyeshadow with metallic shine to it, I don't have any shade like this and I've been loving the groungy eye look and I felt like this would go perfect with it, I've realise that I tend to use more of cream eyeshadows so I know i'll be getting a lot out of this product.

The second thing I purchased was Satin Lipstick in Captive, I wanted a pinkish-plum tone lipstick for quiet a while but never seemed to find the right one until I came across this one in store, I tend to get matte Mac lipsticks but I've recently wanting more of a creamy (satin) feel and more comfortable to wear, this is by far my favourite Mac lipstick I've got and of course I had to add to my mac lipstick collection.

What is your favourite Mac product? Thanks for reading x

Cover & Conceal

Before going on holiday I was browsing on Superdrug checking things out, when I came across the Nip+Fab Bee sting lifting mask, I've been looking to trying out this brand I did get a Nip+Fab Bust fix I did get this with a magazine but I hardly used it and I wanted to get something that I could get some use out of. I've been using a thin layer of mask over night and washing my face every morning, I started doing this On Thursday night, its been living my face smooth and moisturised, it also plumps my skin. I'll be doing a review on this product in the next couple weeks and show a before and after from this product.

I've seen bloggers and people on Instagram raving about Makeup Revolution Ultra Cover and Conceal Palette and since I was on Superdrug I thought I might as well buy it and give it ago for £6 it wouldn't hurt, it took me a week before I could use this as I wanted to have a clean and sleek palette pictured than a messy looking one, Since giving this a try for the past day I haven't been disappointed it isn't a high coverage but it still covers posts and uneven skin-tones I use this as a concealer and contour as there a dark shade that works well for contouring, I find it difficult finding concealers that match my skin tones they are either too light or too dark and I always have to mix different colours to get one closer to mine but I found the shade thats perfect for my skin-tone, the palette I purchased is light-medium.

I think ill be purchasing more of Makeup Revolution makeup, if you have any beauty fav's I would love to know what they are, leave a comment down below.

What's in my Travel Handbag

Its been 2 years since I've been on a proper holiday, I'm currently in Madeira Funchal to spend the New Years here with my boyfriend and both sides of our family, I will post pictures from our holiday once I'm back in the Uk.

I thought I would share with you all what I carry in my Travel Hand Bag, if like me you like to see whats people take in their Travel Handbag and makeup bags then maybe you would like to see what I carry with me to the airport. (Who doesn't like a snoop around?).

I don't like doing my handbag at the last minute cause I start panicking that I might forget something, I tend to sort my bag out a few hours before getting ready for the airport that leaves me enough time to check if I got everything without having to rush around finding things.

What I tend to have with me:

- Plastic bag for liquids and makeup.
- Perfume, Lady Million by Paco Rabanne, a must have.
- Hairbrush.
- Phone charger.
- Earphones.
- Magazine.
- Glasses.
- Contact Lens.
- Purse.
- Chewing gum.
- Hair bun.
- Booby pins/ hair clips.
- Wipes.
- Makeup.
- Water.

I always take 2 clear plastic bags just incase I might need one, I like to buy a magazine at the airport it tends to be either Elle or Glamour Magazine, it pretty much depends what they have at the shops. I only like to take the makeup I will need on the plane so I don't have to carry some much by hand, I tend to take foundation, powder and blush. Chewing gum and Water is a must for me, I tend to get them both at the airport otherwise they tell you to leave it behind and it'll be pointless.

I like to carry things I will be needing, I don't like to have things that I won't use and have my handbag crazy heavy, I like to travel light while at airports. Saying that my suitcase is packed with a lot of things.

Whats your must have item in your Travel Makeup bag?
