2013 Highlights

This year has been a roller coaster but I wouldn't change anything for the world. From spending the new year in Venezuela with the family, to saying goodbye to everyone from Northampton, to
reconciling with old school friends, to having an A&E experience, to celebrating birthdays, to moving to a new place and starting from scratch, to meeting new people, to pranks on each other. So heres to 2013 for being one hectic but great year.
I wouldn't change this year but I'm looking forward to what 2014 has to offer.

Would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, Feliz Año Nuevo.

Quick & Easy DIY

This is such a quick and easy DIY you'll ever do, everything you need you'll have at home sep the candles that you'd have to go out and buy.

This will be perfect to put on your dinning room table or living area/room table, its such a unique thing to do and it looks christmassy, it has an elegant look to it.

All you need is Wine glasses, rounded Ornaments and Candles. You won't be needing glue for this DIY. I will defiantly try this at home ill suggest it to mum since it is her house (and I don't live there).

You can do it for Birthdays, Christmas or any other occasions, its also a unique thing to do and you know no ones going to have the same wrapping paper as you. I'll definitely give this a try properly for someones birthday or mothers day as it'll be a nice thing to do.

Online Window Shopping

I've realise what I want for Christmas is Mary-Kate and Ashely Olsen Influence book, I know it may seem like all of a sudden thing to want but I grew up watching them on tv and when the book came out I wanted to get it but of course at the time I hadn't had to money to get it, but since stabling across it on Amazon I want to get my self one. I might have to give some hints to my parents about it.

Thought I'd share with you my top 5 lipstick shades I like to wear in the winter. Lets get right into it.

Left to right: - Kate Moss, 01 - Seventeen, Rule Breaker - Natural Collection, Red -  Mac, Viva Glam - Mac, Rebel.

I tend to wear mainly reds and purples for all year round but mainly throughout Fall and Winter. I think reds and purple are perfect festive touch to your makeup look. My two most favourite are Mac Viva Glam and Kate Moss 01.

Christmas Wish List

1) Texture Black Peplum top from River Island. 2)  Flower pattern Trousers from Topshop.
3) Suede Strappy Sandals from Topshop. 4) Quilted Panelled Bag from River Island.

5)  Velvet draped Kimono from Miss Guided. 6) Flower midi ring pack from Topshop.

I know I haven't been posting daily I've been busy with doing work and going out with people that I've had no time to do one so I'm while doing this post I'll be doing a couple more for the next couple of days so you'd get something to read and I won't feel bad for not doing a post. Anyways let's get into this post.

So Christmas is just two weeks away and I have nothing to wear for it. So I decided to make a wish list of what I'd want to get for Christmas.

I haven't been into peplum tops since they've been around until recent my style has started to change (once again) so I decided to give it ago, like kimonos too never really thought I'd want to get one until I came across it on Miss guided and I fell in love with the velvet draped, I originally saw it in red and I've been meaning to get it but unfortunately it was out of stock when I went to get it but I still like the navi/ black.

Of course I had to add a pair of heels onto my wish list specially since the are red and I only have a black one heel, I want some in red only because if I wear a black outfit I have some colour to go with the outfit.

The Christmas Tag

I've seen this tag going around in the last couple of days and I thought why not do it too since I am doing a post every day up until Christmas Day.
Lets get started…

1. What time of year do you start your Christmas shopping?
I am the worst to start Christmas shopping specially since I'm once again for the second year running a university student meaning I'm broke and Christmas presents are on a small budget. But I still haven't started buying anything I think I will leave everything a week or so before Christmas to buy presents for people.

2. Do you any festive recipes for food or drink you limit solely to the Christmas season to share?
I don't really have any sep ginger bread mans or Portuguese cookies which I did a post for it, my family will cook the dinner and I'll be in charge of setting the table and snacks.

3. Tell me how Christmas goes down in your family?
Since growing up we wake up later than we used to, We will open Presents around 9ish start getting ready to either go to a family members for Christmas dinner so we will talk, play some cards watch films then eat. It gets hectic when they are cooking dinner cause that's when the stress tends to come from.

4. Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Not really, I'd say we have a thing of on Christmas Eve we will go to either someone's house say there eat, have snacks watch the fireworks and welcome Christmas but that's about it really. But I would want to start a tradition when I have kids but that'll be a long while before it happens (haha).

5. Do you have a favourite festive coffee?
Don't really like coffee unless I go someone's house and they offer then I'll have coffee, I'm more of a hot chocolate girl really.

6. Do you have a favourite Christmas song?
This is a hard one since I like any Christmas song, don't really have a favourite though (I also don't know the names for them).

7. What do you do an Christmas Eve?
We would spend it either at ours or a relatives, watch a couple of films watch the fireworks on tv not much now since we've grown up, but when we was younger we would get excited for opening some presents from family on midnight. It was exciting.

8. What's your Christmas wrapping strategy?
I'll wrap presents on the day I buy them only because my family always walk into my room and see them so I have to wrap it so they wouldn't know who's it's for and what it is.
9. What's your dream gift this year?
I'm actually not asking for anything this Christmas, I have everything I want and I always get money for Christmas so that I'll buy my own thing that I want or need (it'll go towards food for university).

10. Describe your Christmas tree, how tall? Real or artificial? How is it decorated?
We don't have a Christmas tree for the flat, but the tree at home is about 5" ish and artificial, we've had it for years now and it's still going strong. It's been decorated in Reds and Gold this year my the lovely mum and brother.

11. Do you decorate just the tree or other areas of your house?
When I'm at home me and the brother would get the job of doing the tree while mum does the rest.

12. What do you wear on Christmas Day?
I like to wear something comfortable but also dress for the day but alouds me to eat. But this year I have no idea what to wear, still deciding at the moment.

I hope you guys enjoyed this tag.

New Candle Scent

A couple days ago I went into town with the flat mates to do some food shopping and window shop since we had nothing planned for the day. We ended up in Primark in the Home sectioned and they
happened to sell Scented candles, I fell in love with the Sweet Berries & Patchonli it smells amazing and makes my whole room smell so nice, I've pretty much used it everyday since I got it and I think I might have to go back and get some more specially when its only £3.50 (barging!!).

I used to be into candles when I was much younger, I went through a stage where I wanted to decorate my room with candles and make it homely then I went off the whole candles thing after I read something in the news to do with candles burning a house down or something so never went back to it until this fall everything changed I love scented candles it makes the place look more homely and smells amazing!!!

Christmassy Nails

Hey everyone, thought i'd share with you my favourite nail polish colours for this Christmas and Winter, I've been using Barry M in the shade Red Black and Ciaté Nail Polish in a nude colour and I think its perfect for this winter and also Christmas, it goes with anything.

When it comes to winter and fall I don't like to wear bright colours on my nails I like to wear dark and settled colours to go with the seasons.

I also had to show off my new middy ring's that I bought when I last went home for the weekend, I think it came up to £5 all together for them, I've worn them none stop since I got it, I know its not summer for me to wear a daisy ring but hey Its too pretty not to wear right? haha.

Festive Baking Ideas

When it come to Christmas, baking is a must in our family gathering for Christmas eve/day. Everyone loves to have something to snack on before the meals ready or before we open presents on midnight Christmas Eve.
I thought I'd share with you two of the recipes that we would bake for this festive months, one of the recipes is a Portuguese one, as its a tradition for us to have for this festive month.

Ginger and Cinnamon Gingerbread Men:
I'm a big fan of Gingerbread Men, the smell of the spiced ginger and the cinnamon instantly reminds me of Christmas.

Ingredients
 - 350g plain flour
 - 125g unsalted butter
 - 175g light soft brown sugar
 - 1 egg
 - 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
 - 2 tsp ground ginger
 - 2 tsp cinnamon
 - 3 tbsp golden syrup

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees, mix together the flour, bicarbonate of soda and the butter. Add the sugar with the cinnamon and ginger. The mixture should look quite crumbly, add the egg and golden syrup. Tip the mixture onto the kitchen surface and knead all of the mixture together.
Once mixture is ready move to the fridge to cool for 15 minutes, once cooled you can start rolling and cutting. Roll the dough out to half a cm thickness and use a cookie cutter to get the Gingerbread man figures. Lay all of the guys out on the trays and make sure they're not too close to each other otherwise it'll sticking to each other. Bake for 10 minutes but do keep and eye on them.
Once its baked leave to cool before doing any decorations.

Portuguese Spice Molasses Cookies:

Ingredients
 - 1/2 tsp Baking soda
 - 1/2 cup brown sugar, dark
 - 1 3/4 tsp Cinnamon, ground
 - 1/4 tsp Cloves, ground
 - 1/3 cup Cornstarch
 - 1 tsp Fennel seeds, grounds
 - 1/2 tsp Guar gum
 - 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
 - 1/4 cup Molasses, dark
 - 1/3 cup Potato starch
 - 3/4 cup Sorghum flour
 - 1/4 cup Sweet rice flour
 - 1/2 cup Tapioca flour
 - 1/2 cup White sugar
 - 2 tsp Xanthan gum
 - 1/2 pound Butter, unsalted
 - 2 Eggs, large

Combining the dry ingredients:
Whisk together the sorghum flour, tapioca flour, potato starch, sweet rice flour, and cornstarch in a large bowl. Add the xanthan and guar gum, the spices, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, whisk them together. Set aside.
Creaming the butter and sugar:
Using a stand mixer (if possible), combine the softened butter and sugars. Mix them together well until they have nuzzled together to become one. Do not beat them for longer than 1 minute or so, because over-creaming the butter and sugar can cause gluten-free cookies to spread. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then drizzle in the molasses. When everything is incorporated, stop the mixer.
Finishing the dough:
Add the flour mixture to the butter and sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing on low between additions. Refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour before baking. Overnight is best.
Preparing to bake:
When ready to bake the cookies, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, Line a sheet tray with parchment paper or Silpat.
Baking the cookies:
Roll dough about the size of a tablespoon between your palms and place about 2inches from each other on the baking sheet. Bake until the edges have browned and the centres are firm  but still yield a bit to the tough, about 15 minutes. Transfer the cookies to a cooling rack and allow to them to cool for at least 15 minutes before eating.

Hopeful I get to make some cookies with the flat mates before we break off for Christmas break, and also hope that when I get home they the have cookies waiting for me :)

Happy December

Hey everyone, who's excited for it finally being December? and also for it being 24 Days till Christmas? :) I'm going to a couple post a week up until Christmas Day about Beauty, Fashion and all sorts that relate to this month and Christmas.

When it comes to December I become a big kid, that is because Christmas lights are up, everything looks festive and set for Christmas and its when all the family come together for it. I would properly say December is one of my favourite month of the year for sure. (You can also tell by the fact that my blog is more Christmassy) I know I'm sad but thats just me.

Hope you all are having a great start into December and had a great weekend.
