What I've learned about blogging

Image is my own
I've been blogging for 2 years now which is crazy to think that, so I thought in todays post I would talk about the things I've learnt from blogging and what I'm still learning to this day. This are all my opinions and ideas that have worked for me and that may help others who are in a similar situation.

Noting Down Ideas - Have you ever thought of ideas that randomly pop up in your head about a new post you can do but always forget what it is when you come to writing a post and dislike yourself because you forget, something I've learned is by writing it down on my phone, laptop, piece of paper or a notebook helps to keep organised and you won't forget ideas.

Scheduling - Something I still have trouble doing is scheduling, I tend to do posts on the day I arrange to have them posted, what I've learned and I have done in the past is on Sundays or days when I'm off and have no plans on posting a post is where I write up as many posts as I can and have them ready to schedule for the week, this has helped me a lot specially when I was away on holiday it helped to have a post up since I scheduled it.

For example I started this post on Friday morning and Just finished yesterday evening (Sunday) so it'll be ready and uploaded for today.

Taking a Step Back - I've had many moments where I felt like giving up on blogging for while since I didn't feel passionate about it like I did at the beginning and wasn't getting any inspiration on blogging anything that it made it difficult keeping a blog at times, what I've learned to do in situations like this is taking a step back when I feel like theres not point to blogging I'll go off Blogger for a few days or until I feel like its right time to get back into blogging and once I've found inspiration and motivated thats when I'll start again.

Social Media - If you want to get your blog out there and notice then social media is a big deal, join twitter share you blog and hashtags it'll help to get notice that much easier, this has helped getting my blog out there.

Previewing Posts - I'm one to put my hands up and say that most of the time when I blog I don't really check what I've written and ended up post it any way, but when I have more time and plan posts I tend to check everything twice to make sure it all sounds good and spelling mistakes.

This is the things I tend to do on this blog and have worked for me, if your a blogger yourself what have you learned about it?

Bold Metals

I'm a big fan of Real Techniques brushes I have quite a few of their brushes, when I heard they had come out with a new collection I couldn't wait to get my hands on them. Ive recently purchased their 202 Angled Liner brush from my loco Boots.

I've been using this for eyeliner, and Ive got to say I found my favourite brush, I like how it soft and easy to apply eyeliner with this brush, it gives it a smooth shape. I can't wait to purchase more of the RT Bold Metal Collection.

What is your favourite Real Technique Brushes?

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter Everyone, Today I've got family over and my boyfriend to spend Easter together, myself and mum spent the afternoon preparing food which we ended up making lasagne (the specialty in our house) we did have a bit of help preparing with uncles girlfriend and my boyfriend. While we waiting for food to cook, half of the family decided to go out while myself and the youngsters stayed at home.

I went for a walk with Nelson around Wellingborough area, we explored the area and found many parks and fields around my parents house, it was the perfect time to go for a walk as it was still light out and the sun was setting.

The rest of the day I spent with family playing boardgames and talking.

Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend. How did you spend yours?

Most Embarrassing Moment

If you read yesterdays post you'd know a little bit about me bleaching my hair, I'm the type of person where I do things at the heat of the moment, I wanted to go platinum for a while and recently after having my haircut short I wanted to go for a completely different colour. While looking around online for tutorials on how to go platinum and what could happened if it failed, I ended up getting so much help and a lot of successful videos of people showing how they got their goal colour, but I didn't really find any useful information if it went bad and what to do so thought I would break down what I did to my hair from the start to the end and what went wrong and how I got it to the colour I have now.

First try (Thursday night) - I used Bleach London Total Bleach, on the box it says it lights up to 7 levels to achieve platinum so I thought I would give it ago, I did everything on the introduction sheet and mixed the products left it on my hair for 40-45 minutes, I washed my hair until the water turned clear, once my hair was dried you could see (Left picture) it only lightened my roots and left the rest of my hair reddish ginger.

Second Try (Friday Morning) - I wanted to bleach it once again to see if everything would lighten, I did everything like the first step and it just went lighter on the roots and the top of my hair a yellow blonde and still a bright orange from the middle to the ends.

Third try (Friday Afternoon) - At this point I got fed up with it all and I went into town and purchased another box of Bleach London in town to bleach it for the 3rd time.

Did everything like the previous tries but only bleach the ends and left roots since they didn't need doing, once my hair was dry it only turned out even brighter, at this point my hair was bright yellow at the roots and a bright orange from the middle to the ends of my hair.

To make things worse I also had to work at my dads shop since they needed help, you can't imagine how embarrassing it felt working wright bright hair, having people laughing and making ridiculous comments. By this point I just gave up with everything and was in a point where I wanted to just dye it dark and forgetting everything.

Fourth try (Saturday Morning) - Once I woke up I called my local hairdressers where I got my hair cut and explained what happened luckily they had a free spot for me to come and and they can take a look and see what they could do.

I walked in and the all had a shocked expression I don't think they realised how crazy and bright it looked, I got seen at half 11 where she took a look at my hair, explained why it got to the colour and saying it was impossible to reach platinum as I'm a dark headed, she suggested the colour for my to cover it up in the meanwhile and then if I wanted to still go lighter I could come back in a months time and get it done gradually, as I had bleached it the previous day it was too soon for them to put any bleach in my hair as it would damage my hair.

She was surprised how my hair was in a good/average condition after being bleached, she advised to keep condition a lot on every wash and putting a lot of oils on my hair so that it doesn't split and damage my hair.

I choice to go for a brown chocolate dye for my hair, but my hair turned lighter than planned due to it being bleached and lighten, as you could see from the picture on the right. It looks a bit darker on the picture but in person its just a shade lighter.

I like how my hair turned out with the colour after getting it done at the hairdressers, I will be going just a shade lighter maybe but I still need to think about it.

My advice - My advice on the whole bleaching at home is everyones hair is completely different, it might turn out great but you always have to consider that it might go wrong and not how you've planned for it go, I would advice to please go hairdressers if you do want to go lighter than your natural hair, they will do a better job than you would think they would, always better, if it goes wrong always have a backup plan on what you want to do next, Remember its just hair and it'll grow out if its damaged or goes wrong and you can always cover it up.

I wish I had waiting and gone to the hairdressers where they would advice me on whats best for my hair and they would do a job a better job.

Have you had any bad experience with bleaching or dying hair?

Complete Madness

When it comes to my hair I can do some crazy and stupid stuff to it, I've dyed my hair since the age of 15, I never liked my natural colour which is Black, I've dyed it Red, Purple, different shades of Browns, I've had blonde highlights on the fringe and had dip dye twice so its been through a lot. But that doesn't stop me from getting it dyed once again.

I've decided to go out of my comfort zone and bleach my hair to platinum or blonde depends on how it all turns outs really, I've pretty much wanted blonde hair for years but I always had people telling me no and changing my mind but recently I've wanted it get it done and I've plucked up the courage to finally do it.

I will advice people if you do want to go platinum please go hairdressers if its your first time with bleaching or you are worried that it won't turn out right, or if you want to get it done at home make sure you have someone around that could reach the parts that you can't reach or see, it'll make the process a whole lot better. I won't be posting any pictures today on how it all turned out but I will be posting it tomorrow of my review and how it all went down.

What you bleached your hair? Whats been your experience with home bleaching it?

Happy Good Friday everyone.

Barry M Love

After hairdresses yesterday I popped into town just to have a little wonder around and see whats new in stores, I ended up in Superdrug since I was on a mission on finding a nice bright orange nail polish, I have been wanting an orange shade for a while, I don't really have any orange nail paint in my collection and I've been liking bright colours lately so I've been in need of one that would stand out.

I came across this Gelly-Hi Shine nail paint in Mango what is the coincidence that I was thinking about eating a mango at the time of searching for an orange nail paint and I found one thats called Mango? I like that this colour is bright like an neon shade and it'll be perfect to wear for Spring and Summer.

The second purchase is a basecoat, topcoat and nail hardener, I only got this because I run out of my topcoat polish and I was in need of a new one, I'll have to try this one out and see if it does what it says on the bottle. I purchased both for £6 which is a pretty good deal.

What is your favourite nail colour for Spring?

And it begins…

Its been a year and half since I last my hair cut, the last time I did I went for a short do for the summer and since I was starting university I wanted something new, I'm the type of person that if I have short hair I want to grow it out and have it long but then once I have long hair I want to cut it short and do something different, luckily my hair can grow at an average-fast paste which I'm quite lucky about.

This time around I wanted to go for short do just on the shoulders at the moment, I still want length which is enough for me to tie it back and do cute stylings with it. It feels strange having it short, I pass my fingers through it and its weird not having my long hair there, but my head and hair feels much lighter after having it cut, specially since I had a lot of split and damaged ends that needed a cut.

I got my haircut in the same place as I got my acrylic nails done Top Tips in Wellingborough, I never had my haircut by them before so I was quite worried about getting it cut somewhere new, the girl did a good job with it all though I felt like she didn't really do much of the same with the picture I had shown her (pic) but still did a good job.

I won't be stopping with just a haircut I will be going lighter with my hair and maybe going just a bit shorter for the Summer but I'll be keeping you posted with it.

Whats your favourite thing to do with styling your hair?

Being at the parents

It's been about 4 days since Ive been at my parents, on Friday I talked about me coming up to my parents while their employe is currently on holiday and I agreed since I wasn't really doing anything and I have no job as of yet in London.

I've moved out of my parents almost two months ago, in that time I've been in my own little place and having a place where I could relax and do my own things in it without having people on my case about doing things, and I've also had my boyfriend around every single day in that period.

Its weird how when I'm at home I miss being around my family and I can never wait to go see them again but once I'm here I can't wait to get back to my little place and spend time with the boyfriend, I wish I could have everything in one place by that I mean living in the same city makes it easier to be around everything I want but I guess it doesn't work that way.

This last few days I've been working at the shop with my parents which has been crazy busy and the spare time I get I spend it either resting or catching up on tv and blogs post and its been quite hard keeping up with daily blogging in which I've decided to start all the daily blogging from April 1st, it'll make it easier to start from the beginning of the month.

Natural nails

Before wanting/having acrylic nails I would have long natural nails but with working and it always breaking I ended up giving up and just getting acrylic since they'll last longer and won't break as fast as my naturals but this time around it was time for a change.

After coming back from holiday in Madeira I wanted to grow my own nails naturally and stop getting them done, I especially didn't want to be every paying over £20 every 3-4 when I can have long natural nails for free.

The first month was hard since they where so weak from the acrylics, what I did was cutting the nails short and failing them to shape them, I also added nail polish as I find it that it grows faster when I paint my nails and adding topcoats, I did this for 2 months. I didn't use anything specially on them it was just a natural process.

It's been almost 3 months since I last wore acrylics and my nails are stronger than what they used to, I don't think I'll be getting acrylics for a very long time.

What do you do to keep your natural nails healthy?

Going home...

Today's I'm off to my parents for the week as I don't have anything to do in London and in the middle  of looking for jobs I agreed to helping them out while one of their employe has gone on holiday, so I'll be helping and keeping busy until he comes back.

I like going back to my parents it's nice to see them, I get a little home sick when I'm on my own and have nothing to do so it's nice to see them every other week, it's also nice to know I won't have to pay for food as I'll be getting all that at the parents. I feel like the train has become like a second home with the amount of times I've been on it in the past year and half is crazy and I've managed to actually like train journeys which

The things I do for time to pass by on the trains is go on my phone and look up different blogs, go on the laptop write up a few posts ideas or sort out things that are on the laptop or listening to music and playing random games on the phone to keep me going.

What do you do to keep yourself busy while on train journeys?

The things I do when I'm at home

Being at home can get pretty boring if you have nothing to do, I've been at home quite a lot since moving mainly because I have no job yet, so I thought I would share some of the things I do to get by while I'm at home.

1. Tiding the Flat, if I was leaving at home with my parents I would be lazy and hardly do anything but since living in my own place I like to clean and tidy things, I tend to do the washing, cleaning and tidying the place up when I've run out of things to do or when I'm just at home with no plans.

2. Catching up with series is something I tend to do but then I hate at the same time since I watch everything when it comes out then the seasons ends and I'm left without anything to watch, I tend to watch my soaps too like Hollyoacks and occasionally Eastenders.

3. I tend to go online to find inspirations for the blog or there can be days where I want to try something to with makeup and Ill go online for tutorials.

4. When I get inspired I will write and schedule posts to save me time for when I have things going on that won't alloy me to posts on a pacific day.

5. I like cooking, I tend to see people making something or going online to get some recipes and try something new, I've cooked quite a lot since leaving home and I feel like I keep learning new things every time I do.

What do you do when you're home to keep you busy?

365 Days

On the 17th I made a challenge for this blog where I'll be posting everyday for a year, its hard coming up with a posts idea for every day, I recently went on Amazon and Ebay searching for blogging books to see if I can find inspirations, I also saw on Doing Life My Way talking about blogging book called 365 Blog Topic Ideas so I thought I'll purchase it and give it ago.

The book arrived today, I didn't know what to expect with this book and I did think that it might be a waist of money me purchasing this book, I've flicked through and spotted quite a few ideas that I could do for days when I don't know what to blog about, I think this book is going to come in hand quite a lot.

I recommend this book for Bloggers who are starting out and may not know what they want to blog about, and/or if like me sometimes it can be hard to come up with new ideas you'll need a little help I think this book will do just that.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Much needed Boots Haul

Today has been one of those days where time has gone by so fast and I don't even know what I've done, I've managed to do grocery shopping and buying things I needed from boots.

This haul is something I've been needing for a while now and I've run out on some of the products. I got the Neutrogena Oil-free Moisturiser I ran out of this moisturiser today and I don't like putting makeup without applying moisturiser first, I like that it leaves my skin feeling fresh and healthy and doesn't feel heavy on the skin before I apply makeup, I've seen a difference with my skin if I use a different moisturiser to this one its only £4.99 which isn't so bad.

There was a buy one get one free deal in Tea Tree witch hazel brand so I purchased there exfoliating pads and nose pore strips, I've tried the exfoliating pads and I've run out a while ago so I was in need of some, I never tried nose pore strips before and since it was a buy one get one free deal I thought I might as well get it and give it ago.

The last thing I purchase is the Real Techniques Miracle complexion sponge, I ended up getting this with my boots points since I had over £6 saved on it, I purchased this sponge a while ago but I some how I managed to loose it I've tried looking everywhere but no luck I think I must of thrown it away accidentally.

Whats your favourite moisturiser?

Hangover Sunday

If you seen yesterdays post you'd know I was going out in London for the first time, I had such a great time met although I was shocked at the amount I paid for a drink was crazy but other than that I had a great night.

I haven't gotten drunk in so long so the drinks hit me a lot more than usual so Sunday was a day for recovering, we popped to Brick Lane to visit a friend who has a pop up Juice Bar stool which I tried Açai a Brazilian drink, it was so good but as I'm not a fan of having bits in my juice I couldn't finish it all, there was so many food stools around that it was hard to choice what to have.

We ended up going to a Venezuelan Street Food trailer where they where selling Arepas (link) which if you don't know what it is just click the link to find out. I haven't had a proper Venezuelan Arepas since I was back home around 3/4 years ago, We got Chicken, Melted Cheese and Salad, it was so good defiantly brought back memories from home. If you'd in the area and want to try something new I recommend giving the Venezuelan Street Food trailer a go.

After Brick Lane I went home to recover and gain back some energy that I needed. Have you visited Brick Lane?

New Look Sale

I'm not one for buying things in sale if I'm honest, I can never seem to find anything I like or in my size and mainly because I see a lot of people wearing things that are on sale and it puts me off.

As I'm going out tonight for the first time in London I needed to get an outfit for tonight, I popped into New Look today to see what they have in store, I went straight into the sale section and came across this cute little black playsuit which you can never go wrong with, I also purchased a pack of bracelets and tights for the night.

Playsuit was £22.99 bought for £8
Bracelet pack £6 bought for £3
Tights are £2.99

Everything I needed for less than £15 is a bargain, I defo recommend checking out the sales, wasn't disappointed this time around.

Sleek Haul

I haven't bought any Sleek products in quiet a while, now that I'm living in London I get more access to more beauty brands, meaning I can see and try the product out in store before purchasing. I'm a fan of Sleek I have 6 previous makeup palettes from the brand making a total of 9 thanks to this little haul.

Contouring and Blush palette in light, I already have a contouring palette in Medium, I accidentally purchased the wrong one but worked out well for the Summer since I get bit of a tan, I've been wanting to get a light palette for quite a while which I was quite happy to see that they had it in store, I decided to get contouring and blush palette, its got a bronzer, highlighter and blusher, the blush is a shimmery pinkish peach.

Blush By 3 Palette in Carliforn.I.A - Newport Peach, The Surf and Oc, I tend to go for powdered blushers but since I wanted to invest in some cream blushes for Spring, I came across this blush by 3 Palette and instant new the colours would be perfect for Spring/Summer, theres two matte and one shimmer, the blushes in this palette are very pigmented so a small amount goes a long way.

The 3rd Palette I got was the I-Divine eyeshadow palette in Ultra mattes V1 Brights Palette, the reason behind this purchase is the bright colours for Spring and Summer, I'm also the one to go towards browns and neutrals colours but its time for me to step out of the comfort zone and explore with bright colours, I like that this palette is matte I'm not a big fan of matte and I feel like its hard finding matte eyeshadows, the colours that I'm liking in this palette are Pout, Bamm, Strike and Crete I think those are the shades ill be using quite a lot in Spring and Summer.

I'm going to do makeup looks using this Sleep haul palettes, what is your go to Sleep Palette?

Tower Bridge

On Saturday myself and the boyfriend decided to explore London just a little bit more, so this time we went to Tower Hill, I used to pass by there from university to get home to Oxford but I never explored out of the train stations.

I've got to see Tower Of London for the first time, to be honest I didn't realise that I was so close from it and Tower Bridge while passing to go home if I knew I would of popped out the tube to go sightseeing.

So glad that the weather was perfect, you can tell Spring is just around the corner.

If you keep walking you'll see Tower Bridge picking through, I've passed by it on the boat but never been close by to see it clearly.

We ended up deciding to go inside Tower Bridge and check it out, it was interesting seeing the history to the bridge and how it came about, and also getting to see the view from the top of the bridge (above picture) and going on the glass floor which was exciting, to be honest I thought it was going to be much higher than expected but it wasn't so bad.

Wearing everything from New Look.

I feels like since I've moved within the past 2 weeks I've seen and done more in London than I have in my entire time of Living in England.

Have you check out the glass floor in Tower Bridge?
